Hello footy fans!
Welcome to ayankonthefooty.com. I'm Craig Wessels, the host of the podcast, and I wanted to tell you a little about myself. (of course, you could learn a great deal of it in the 1st episode of the podcast)
In 2017, I fell in love with footy, and over the last 4+ years, it has become almost exclusively the focus of my sports viewing over the last few years. Don't get me wrong, when footy is over, I love to watch my Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State and Navy football (Beat Army!).
I began "A Yank on the Footy" in 2019, because I wanted to engage with supporters from all over the AFl, as well as hopefully the state and local footy comps as well. For those of you who may now know, I am a Cats supporter, and I've met (online) some absolutely wonderful people who've welcomed me into being a Cats supporter.
I've also encountered countless wonderful supporters of the other 17 clubs, who've welcomed me into their world of being a footy fan. I'm so appreciative of each and of every one of them who've made me feel so welcome, while helping me to learn more about the history of the game, the nuances of how the game is played, and the friendly rivalries. Your sharing of your knowledge and love for the game is a debt that I can never repay.
